Saint Andrew’s Cathedral is the biggest and oldest Anglican church in Singapore. Its neo-gothic style is a sight to behold, and the church has a long, colourful history dating back almost 200 years. The cathedral is known for its vibrant stained glass windows, which make up half of its dome.

The Armenian Church of Saint Gregory the Illuminator is the oldest of the Christian churches. In 1835, construction was finished; it was built to accommodate the growing population of Armenians in the country during that period. It was also gazetted as a National Monument in 1973. The Armenian Church of Saint Gregory the Illuminator remains not just a significant church in Singapore, but it also stands as a tribute to the local Armenians.

St. Joseph’s Church is a Roman Catholic church that was built from 1906 to 1912. It is recognised as one of Singapore’s most beautiful churches; designed in Gothic Revival architecture and featuring a portico fully supported by four majestic columns. Many visitors enjoy attending mass at St. Joseph’s church during their visit.

The Church of Saints Peter and Paul is another notable place of worship because it represents the beginning and growth of Singapore’s Chinese Catholic community. Built around 1869, the church served as the primary congregation for the country’s Chinese Catholic groups. It was also frequented by European missionaries of the time because they were interested in learning Mandarin before visiting other areas for preaching.

When you visit any of the Singapore churches, add these others to your list: Church of Saint Teresa, Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, Church of the Sacred Heart, and the Church of Saint Alphonsus.
