While Singapore does have many international hotel chains, fancy boutique hotels and luxurious resorts, the more frugal traveller to Singapore can find cheaper and more affordable accommodation options.

Travellers that are on a very tight budget can choose to stay in budget hotels or hostels. Most hostels offer air-conditioned dormitory rooms with bunk beds, individual lights, electrical sockets and personal lockers. Guests have access to a shared toilet and bathroom with free toiletries and shower as well as an on-site laundry. Often, free Wifi is also included in the price.

You can also find a range of boutique hotels located a few kilometres out of the city for a much cheaper price. If you are willing to utilise the convenient MRT, then being a few extra kilometres away from the hustle and bustle can save you hundreds of dollars over a weeklong stay. Check out hotels in Chinatown and Little India for some of the best discounts.

Another option for travellers who are planning to stay longer than one week is to check out a serviced apartment. Serviced apartments are relatively cheaper than hotels in Singapore. These lodgings are often spacious, with air conditioning, broadband internet and meticulous housekeeping services.
