VivoCity

VivoCity is one of Singapore’s finest malls when it comes to retail and entertainment. It is a place overflowing with energy and vitality.

The name is derived from ‘viva city’, a phrase that evokes a spirit of surprise and celebration. True enough, VivoCity hosts several events and festivals all year round, making it a lifestyle haven for both locals and foreign visitors to enjoy.

The concept and design of VivoCity is greatly inspired by its location. Having been situated in HarbourFront, a bustling district in the South, Japanese architect Toyo Ito created an architectural masterpiece that compels the mind to picture waves in the sea. VivoCity also utilised a lot of open spaces to magnify Toyo Ito’s globally acclaimed signature-style of using nature and climate to give visitors the best shopping experience.

VivoCity’s more prominent attractions include; the Sky Park which can easily became everybody’s favourite spot; the Play Court which features an open space that gives ample room for activities; and the Promenade, a 300 metre long walkway dotted by several shopping and entertainment outlets.

Just beside the Play Court is a wading pool where children can play and where adults can sit and relax with a picnic. VivoCity’s rooftop is also designed to double as an amphitheatre and a viewing deck where visitors can get scenic views of Sentosa Island.

Apart from its impressive use of space, VivoCity is also known for the largest multiplex cinema in Singapore. The cinema has a total of 15 screens and can accommodate up to 2,172 spectators at a time. Market giants like Dairy Farm, the multi-billion company that owns 7-eleven, and Toys ‘R’ Us are some VivoCity’s largest tenants. Overall, VivoCity can accommodate a total of 300 tenants and provide parking space for up to 2,179 cars.

There are also heaps of restaurant and dining options here which serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as cater to business lunches and special events. Casual dining options include AOne Claypot House, Earle Swensen’s, Dancing Crab and Jamies Italian.

VivoCity is also the launching place for many people to get to Sentosa Island. You can catch the monorail from here and the cable car network is located right next to the mall. There are directions to both mode of transport within the centre. To get to VivoCity, catch the MRT NorthEast Line or Circle Line and alight at the Harbour Front Station.
