Hindhede Quarry Nature Park

In line with the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) latest advisory to minimise further spread of COVID-19, playgrounds/nature playgardens, fishing areas, fitness corners/stations, football fields, basketball/volleyball court facilities, dog runs and water play/water recreational facilities are closed until 4 May. While parks and gardens remain open during this period for the public to exercise, gathering in groups in parks is not permitted

The Hindhede Quarry Nature Park is a relaxing spot of lush greenery in Singapore; located next to the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.

Anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing spot to get away from the bustling city should check out the park.

Aside from the serenity it offers, the natural environment also makes it ideal for many activities.

Granite mining was once popular here back in the 1900s. It continued until around the 1980s but today the area has been restored and is now a precious pocket of green in busy Singapore. In 2001, the quarry was declared a nature park, after having been closed to the public since 1997 for safety purposes.

Over time, the area has become a popular spot among bird-watchers. Mild trekking, walking on the well-established walkways, and easy trails make this destination a delight to visit whether you’re alone, with friends, or with family. Trekkers may be able to spot the park’s inhabitants along the way; such as the clouded monitor lizard, banded woodpecker, greater racket-tailed drongo, and much more.

Visitors may not expect Singapore to have such a diverse array of flora and fauna, but this is a good place to see them. Active kids and adults will also enjoy the many playgrounds nearby.

The best time to visit the Hindhede Quarry Nature Park is in the late afternoon or early morning when the weather is slightly cooler. It is recommended to come in appropriate footwear since it takes around 30 up to 45 minutes to complete a loop around the park.

The park’s amenities include a drinking fountain, toilets, and vending machines. Many visitors choose to pair this destination with a visit to the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, so that you get to hit two birds with one stone.
