By March 1986, it became the home of the National Theatre Trust. After taking a four-year break in 2007, it reopened in 2011 with new management and even better facilities thanks to a $1.5 million investment in renovations.
Today, the theatre has played host to renowned acts such as Cats, Les Miserables, Chicago the Musical, Phantom of the Opera, and Miss Saigon, among many others.
The main auditorium has a seating capacity of 1,700 seats spread out over 2 levels, state-of-the-art audio and visuals, and LED panel walls.
It also has other function rooms available for rent on-site, which are suitable for a variety of special occasions including birthdays, receptions, milestones, and parties, as well as meetings, conferences, and team building. These include the Orchid Room, Outdoor Platform, Lavender Room, and the Rose Room.
Other facilities in the Kallang Theatre include ten dressing rooms, two VIP rooms with foyers, car parking space to cater for 200 vehicles, and a loading and unloading bay. It’s also conveniently located next to the Stadium MRT station for easy access.
