The farm’s history dates back to the 1980s when pig farming was halted in Singapore. Since it was one of the primary sources of income for many locals, the sons of Mr Hay Yak Tang, a chicken farmer who arrived in the country in 1920, decided to turn to goat farming as an alternative. The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) assisted the family in obtaining contacts for goats imported from the United States. The Hay family then began goat farming by December 1988.The farm produces original and chocolate flavoured goat milk, which can be purchased on site. Home delivery may also be arranged, although their products are available in several stores throughout Singapore.
The products and farm facilities have been accredited by numerous organisations, including a Halal certification from Muis Singapore, and a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points certification from SGS Singapore, among others.
For a fun and educational experience, a guided tour is recommended. For groups of 10 or more, the Educational Farm Tour package is recommended. An entrance fee will be charged, and advanced booking is required. However, for smaller groups of 10 or less, no prior booking is needed and is free to enter.
Visitors can come to see the goat milking process, which takes place daily as soon as the farm opens. Kids, in particular, will have a ball seeing and feeding these animals up close.
Hay Dairies is located at 3 Lim Chu Kang Lane 4 in Lim Chu Kang. Operating hours are from 9am to 4pm on Mondays and Wednesdays through Sundays (closed Tuesdays).
