The Church of Saint Teresa is a Catholic church located on Kampong Bahru Road, Singapore.
Built back in 1929, it’s recognised for being the only Catholic church in the country that features a stunning Romano-Byzantine design; evident in its large domes, arches on the facade, and cupolas.

At the time, church members and devotees also believed that the land on which the structure is built was acquired thanks to the intercession of St Teresa of the Child Jesus due to the many struggles encountered in finding suitable land. So it was decided to name it after her. Today, it caters to the Catholics residing in Telok Blangah, Kampong Bahru, Spottiswoode Park, and Cantonment.
The Procurator of Singapore’s MEP, Jean M Ouillon, came up with the sketches of the church building. He was greatly inspired by the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Montmartre in Paris, which also used a Romano-Byzantine design. Emile Brizay was appointed structural engineer and builder of the church, and he saw to it that it could accommodate as many as 1,400 worshippers at a time.
Many of the beautiful materials used for the church were imported from France and India. In November 2009, the Church of Saint Teresa was gazetted as a National Monument due to its historical and social significance, its architectural value, and its importance to the local community.
Mass is held every weekday at 6pm in the chapel; Saturday mass is at 5:30pm, and Sunday mass at8am, 10am, 12pm and 5:30pm in the main church.
